Exploring destinations on Croatian coast for your Holidays in Croatia

For those who would like to know more about possible destinations on our Private Boat Tours Split, we have prepared brief descriptions of some of them.

We do have a few surprises up our sleeve, and  many of the secluded beaches, bays and lagoons will remain a mistery,  to be revealed on one of our Split boat tours.

Blue Cave Croatia

Blue Cave on Biševo island is a unique natural phenomena, one of the just few in the world. Very narrow enterance takes you to the cave inside a stone, built by erosion of the waves.

The name comes from blue color effect on the walls of the cave, from sunlight reflecting from the sea into the cave.  This is one of the most popular tour destinations in Split area, attracting thousands of guests on daily bases.

Blue Lagoon Croatia

Blue Lagoon on Drvenik island, ows its name to crystal clear water. In fact, sea here is so transparent, that you see every detail on the bottom, at every time. Very popular destination for those who love snorkeling, swimming, or just soaking their feet while drinking cocktail in a beach bar. Hundreds of boats visit this place, and drop the anchor on daily bases.

Trogir

Trogir , UNESCO protected town is a story of its own. It is placed on a small island , in between land , and anoher island ( Ciovo ),  and is connected to them with two bridges. The towns draws it roots from Greek colonisers in 3rd century b.c., but main buildings that we see today were developed in romanic- gothic era.

In modern times very popular tourist  destination, and huge boat rental and luxury yacting charter base.

What drives tourists to Trogir is its rich history. Narrow stone streets between the castle walls , and guard tower tell the story about some other times. And you are able to re-live it, in your mind, you can easily imagine your self living there a few centuries a go, since everything is like it was, well preserved, intact !

The main attraction is meister Radovans cathedral, be sure to pay it a visit.

Our favourite chilling spot is Vrata o grada restaurant, where you can enjoy amazing food, while you keep an eye on superyachts sailing in and out from the promenade.

Maslinica

Maslinica is historical village on island Solta, funded in Venetian era. The casle, with fortified walls, once used for defence from the pirates, today is a hotel and a restaurant. Archipelagio of seven small islands in front of the Maslinica bay adds charm, and makes a pretty nice photo from our favourite, exclusive fish restaurant  Šanpjer  on top of the hill above the village

Nečujam

Nečujam bay is hiding place for large number of boats who seek perfect anchoring spot. The ancient Romans called this place  Valissurda, which means deaf bay. Emperor Dioklecian had his fishpond here, remains of which you can find on bottom of the bay. Also, this place was an ancient spa, people used to come here to enjoy therapy in healing mud. In those times it took 8 hours of rowing to get from Split to Necujam, but today it takes only 20 minutes with speed boat.

This place was also residence for famous Croatian poets Marko Marulić, and Petar Hektorović, who wrote some of their best pieces there.

Boats cruising the croatian cost come here to take shelter from bad wether, or just enjoy serenity of peacefull lagoon surrounded with pine trees. Below surface of the sea you will find sunkenn boat, a snorkelers dream !

However, the main attraction in modern days is a floating coctail bar: friendly and cheerfull bartender making Mojitos on his small electric boat, delivering them as you are anchoring. You wont be thirsty or bored here, he is always on duty !

Stomorska

Time for lunch in restaurant Turanj, we will dock and tie the boat just in front of the tables where we will be having lunch.

Milna

Old fishermen village, and charter base in modern days.  Nice promenada with several bars and restaurants. Great place to have a coffe!

Postira

Cool place to stretch your legs, look around and feel the atmosphere of a sleepy island town. Burger Bar – Barcode- the best hamburger in Damatia. Prove me wrong J

Lovrečina

Sandy beach bay, with valuable archeological findings, such as basilica church of st Ante, from 5th century. Completely surrounded with dense pine wood and poplar trees. Shalow waters on the beach are perfect for leisure time, and summer sports, such as Picigin !

Picigin

We have marked several Picigin friendly beaches along our routes.

Only game in the world that has no winners or losers... we play it just for fun ! It is even protected as cultural treasure of Republic of Croatia.

Two things you need for this game, besides players: beach with shallow sea, and a ball. Tennis ball with peeled off green layer is preferred one. Rules : dont let the ball fall in to the see... you bounce it in the air with hands, feet, head, the more attractive the better !

Hvar town

One of the most amazing towns on Croatian cost. Yachting destination for jet set elite of the world.. from Beyonce, Michael Jordan to British royalties. Arabian sheiks keep thier yachts on Hvar promenade. Pakleni Islands archipelago, with fabelous lagoons and several amazing beaches, in front of Hvar harbour adds to attraction. Lots of elite restaurants, such as Patak, Bacchus, and others are spread all over this cluster of small islands. Carpe Diem , and Laganini beach bar are famous party destination, where you can drink coctails in the rhythm oh house music all day and night. Some interesting facts about Hvar island :

  • Hvar island is most visited Croatian island
  • it was proclaimed the most beautiful island in Europe by French traveling magazine in 2021
  • After Jamaica Hvar holds the second place in the world, by number of sunny hours in a year
  • Theater in Hvar was the first public theater in Europe

You can lose your self in narrow stone streets of Hvar, taking selfies in front of significant buildings, exploring shops with handcrafted jewelry, or drink a coctail on the promenade. You will even have time to visit the famous Hvar fortress, from 15th century which is dominating the landscape of Hvar harbour.

Komiža

A historical fisherman town, with remains of oldest fortress tower in Croatia. The ship of old Komiža fisherman, called  Falkuša, was proclaimed one of 10 most beautifull ships in the world ever,  by UNESCO. You can discover more in Komižas own Fisherman Museum.

There are several nice beaches located within this town, and as curiosity, on some of them are known to have a spring of drinking water.

Until 90’s whole island of Vis was a dedicated military zone, closed to outside visitors, and that is the reason the island today looks like partly stuck in time. Curiosity from those lost times are machine gun and cannon nests, caves for submarines and war ships, and similar military installations, which are open to visitors today.

In 2019 Vis archipelago was proclaimed as Geopark, by UNESCO. Geo walking paths in Komiža lead you trough the stories about rocks, drywalls, tradition, and co-existence between man and nature.

Stiniva

Stiniva beach is located inside of a small, but significant bay. It was voted  the most beautiful beach in Europe several times. It is easily acessible by boat, but those who would like to visit it from land will need climbing equipment, since they will have to undertake almost a small expedition to reach it.

Lučice

A bay on south side of island Brac. Yachting destination, with mooring for boat rentals, since you can always find a shelter from the wind. Color of the sea here is inviting, and divers will find unique attraction here- a cave below the surface of the sea.  Restaurant / bar with exclusive ambient settled within pine woods, overlooking the bay. Great place to relax and forget about all your problems, since it doesnt even have mobile reception.

Blue Lagoon Budikovac

One of the most popular and amazing lagoons that you will ever see on while sailing the  Croatian cost. Sea is rather shallow, and you will easilly pull out some sea shells while snorkeling and enjoying the underwater world. You can even visit and walk around the small  island Budikovac , inhabited by only one person, who is also the owner of the only restaurant here. There is no menu here, you eat whatever they catch in the fishing net that day, and the green stuff is from the organic garden, homegrown on the island. Simple as that !

Green Cave

Not so popular as the Blue Cave, but still interesting. Enterance is large enough for a bigger boat to enter, so during world war II, ships were known to find a hiding place here. It has aperture on top, allowing the sun light to enter, providing light show and coloring the walls of the cave.

Carpe Diem

It is located on island Marinkovac, 10 minutes speed boat ride from Hvar.

If you are looking for the best club on Adriatic coast, we could easily argue that Carpe Diem is the one. Lots of young people come to Croatia just to party, and town Hvar is their preffered destination. With 200 employees, nice beach, restaurant, pool, bar, dance floor and taxi boats running all day/ night, party never stops here.

Palmižana

Palmižana island is a synonim for chill !

Its bay offers mooring, and entertainment for  luxury yachts owners.

This small island has a very special story. More than a hundred years a go , a botanical entusiast, and a visionary owner of large estate on the island , started planting the island with various plants from different parts of the world. Those were brought to him by his friends, captains of the many ships sailing all over the world. He started incredible arboretum, and his vision was also his legacy, on which his descendants are working still today. You can find thousands various species of plants, some of which are very rare, and 60% of them are from Mexico. Since water is a luxury on this island, they get is from sea desalinator, ony the most resiliant plants can grow here. Omiš

Historical town, mostly kown as a hideout of the fiercest pirates on whole Adriatic. Two fortresses from that area are still standing, but now only as a tourist attraction. Position of those fortresses gave Omiš pirates a tactical advantage, since they were able to oversee the whole aquatorium. The secret of their sucess , besides fiercesness, were very fast and agile boats, which would allow them to attack , and than retreat, luring the enemy into the trap of underwater wall they built in the river. One the enemies run into the wall, and ruin their ship- the battle is over. Beware of cunning Omiš pirates !

Today, the town is a tourist center.  Surrounded with mountain, river Cetina, and sea, with amazing sandy beach, the scene is set up for your perfect vacation experience.

Once a year, in summer, inhabitants of Omiš celebrate their pirate legacy, by having a Pirate Night, when all of them go out dress like pirates, board their pirate ships  replicas, fire their canons,  and recreate the famous historical ship battle, in which their ancestors defeated the Venetian army, their worst enemies .

Golden Horn

Some refer to it as  Golden Cape,  or on Croatian- Zlatni Rat is  the most recognizibile, and most significant beach in Croatia. Some say it is the most beautiful, but for sure it has become a symbol of Croatia and you can find it on almost every postcard. It is also one of th most unique beaches in the world. In other words- no way you will find another beach like it anywhere in the world !

Golden Horn is one thousand meters long  pebble beach, with pine wood in the middle. It is shaped like top of the speer, but it is well known fact that it changes shape under influence of winds. In fact, the very becah somehow affects the weather conditions, and acts like a wind amplifier. That is the reason kite surfers and windsurfers just love it. Interesting fact: measurements have shown that the beach is getting longer each year, and it gained 80 meters in period from 2006.

Golden Horn is a natural phenomena, which is protected by Croatian goverment as geomorphological monument.

Perun

A mythical mountain stretching along the Adriatic coast. In a way Perun is for Croatia what Olympus is for Greece: place where mythological gods reside. What god Zeus is for Greek mythology, god Perun is for Slavic mythology, the main god, god of thunder and lightning, god of good.

From mount Perun you have panoramic view over all the islands in the Split aquatorium. On a clear day, you can even see Italian coast from here.

Radmanove mlinice, Cetina river canyon

Picnic area in canyon of river Cetina. Lots of vegetation, keyword here is GREEN ! You can take a long relaxing walk following the river, rent and paddle a kanoe, or even swim in the river

Podstrana, Jesenice

Old village with lot of ruined and abandoned housed, but also a lot of them restored and inhabited.

You can see how people lived here a few hundred yeard a go, up to these days.

Split

1700 year old town, at first a colony of antient Greeks called Aspalathos, and later a summerhouse of Roman Emperor Diokletian. Today it is recognised by well preserved remains of Diokletians Palace, around which the center of Split was built around. The sellers of Diokletian, the cathedral of st Duje, Jupiters temple, Peristil square, Golden and Silver Gate, and fotrified walls along the promenade are historical monuments, but also still serve its purpose, and are used by the inhabitants of the city for everyday life.

Besides its antient history, Split is known for its natural beauties, like beaches, Marjan hill- park of nature, and warm and sunny weather, troughout all year. Nigtlife, and gastronomy are also factors which draw a large number of tourists to visit this Pearl of Mediterranean, as we like to call it. Local poets, and singers have dedicated many songs to this town, that they love so much, and for a good reason, as you will find out when you visit it !
